I have worked with families for so many years as a physiotherapist and more recently a lactation consultant, who were struggling with the transition into parenting. Instead of feeling easy, there tends to be a lot of anxiety about feeding, sleep, development and generally keeping a tiny human alive.

During my early parenting years, I used babywearing in a variety of ways that were beneficial for me and my children. With my first, I definitely wanted the closeness of babywearing to help with bonding after a premature birth, extended hospital stay and the failure of our breastfeeding relationship. But as my family grew, babywearing became very much a practical way of having four hands - one twin in a carrier, one twin in my right arm and my left hand to hold onto my toddler when I had three kids. Giant nappy bag balanced on a shoulder as well of course!
